Will Trent Season 4 Episode 16: Our Last Dance

Will finds Amanda's body outside the restaurant; Adelaide escapes. Within minutes the police respond — the ambient sound briefly muffled — and Angie steps in to ask Will to let the techs take Amanda's body and do their jobs. When one of the techs refers to Amanda as a body, Will's anger spikes; when the body bag closes, GBI officers carry it to the car themselves.

At the office, Will confronts Appleyard — believing he has come not to pay respects but to move into Amanda's office — until Evelyn's intervention calms him. Evelyn tells Will and Faith that Amanda was secretly working with an FBI agent to track Adelaide and her acolytes; nobody knew. Caroline delivers a digitized version of Amanda's calendar, and Will works out that Amanda took an undercover car to stay low-key.

The undercover car leads them to where Amanda was casing a building — her broken glasses nearby — and inside they find evidence of Antonio's captivity; the groceries say the assailants just left. Will chases a man out of one of the rooms and, when the man mocks Amanda's death, beats him into near-oblivion before Ormewood and Franklin pull him off. Faith scolds him for landing the suspect in the hospital and blames him for Amanda's death; Ormewood intervenes.

Pete's report: Amanda didn't suffer long — the stab wounds were fatal, but she collected enough DNA under her fingernails to identify her killer: one of Adelaide's followers, a school teacher. Evelyn stays behind in the morgue to say goodbye.

The trail runs to the teacher's garage and the silver sedan — the teacher found dead in the car's boot, another clean kill. Then the grocery lead puts Will and Ormewood at a store as The Commander runs from gunshots. The endgame assembles: Adelaide was pursuing a secret trust liquidated before Ulster's prison escape, and she had convinced Ulster's former fiancée Janice to give up the money's location — the site of Will's face-to-face with her. There she offers the ultimatum: kill himself and Antonio lives; try to apprehend her and she kills herself before Antonio can be saved.

She had shown Will live surveillance of Antonio beforehand — including the sound of a pulse. She tries to escape, is cornered by Faith, and as she appears to kneel to surrender, Will spots the gun hidden in her shoe and fires two shots into her chest from behind.

Adelaide falls — shot in the back as she appeared to surrender, the hidden gun in her shoe the justification the moment hands Will — and Antonio is saved, the surveillance proof of life finally keeping its promise. But the hour refuses catharsis: Amanda is gone, her killer (the school-teacher acolyte) is himself killed to keep him silent, and Will's rage has now put one suspect in the hospital and two bullets in a surrendering woman's chest. Faith says out loud what the episode won't resolve — that Will's anger is costing them — and Ormewood stands between them.
