The Boys Season 4 Episode 4: Wisdom of the Ages

Homelander enters the underground Vought lab where he was raised and kills former staff members, including Frank and Marty, after confronting them about their roles in his abuse. Barbara Findley tells him that Vought cultivated his need for love and approval; he leaves her alive but locks her in the 'bad room' with the dead lab staff. Meanwhile, Firecracker uses a Vought News broadcast to expose Annie's abortion and other allegations. Annie attacks Firecracker on camera, and both Neuman and Singer cut ties with Annie. Elsewhere, A-Train steals Compound V from Homelander's apartment for Hughie.

Hughie decides not to inject his father after Butcher intervenes, but Daphne injects Hugh Sr. after Hughie leaves. Frenchie admits to Colin that he killed Colin's family while working for Little Nina; Colin tells him to stay away. During a fight with Ezekiel, something emerges while Butcher is blacked out and tears Ezekiel apart.

The episode closes with Daphne administering Compound V to Hugh Sr. after Hughie chose not to do so, leaving the effects of the drug on Hugh Sr. unknown. The final major beat is the injection itself. Other unresolved threads include the unexplained manifestation that occurred while Butcher was blacked out, and the political fallout from Annie's televised attack on Firecracker, which led Neuman and Singer to cut ties with her.
