Long Bright River Season 1 Episode 8: Atonement

Mickey follows Truman and sees him inject a woman, but it is an overdose rescue; Truman had been covering for Mr. Winton, who was too ill to help the street women. Kacey tells Mickey that Emily said Mickey's 'partner' was the killer, and Mickey realizes Emily meant Eddie Lafferty.

Kacey recognizes Lafferty from a photo as Dock's supplier and as a man who was with many of the women. Mickey also spots Lafferty, Ahearn and Scanlon together in an old baseball photo, noting they were high-school friends. Danjarat and DiPaolo find large amounts of insulin in Lafferty's refrigerator; Lafferty has fled.

At a rundown church Mickey finds Dock and Lafferty. Lafferty claims he was undercover, but Emily leads a group of women, including Kacey, who shoot Lafferty dead. Mickey lets Emily and the others go and shoots Lafferty herself after wiping the gun.

Danjarat tells Mickey he suspects Ahearn's involvement in the drugs but Ahearn denies it; Danjarat cleared Mickey with Internal Affairs after overhearing the confrontation. Mickey quits the force, and Truman cannot forgive her for pulling a gun on him and says she should have been a music teacher.

Mickey reunites with Kacey, Thomas and Gee as a family and visits Kacey and her newborn baby girl in the hospital.

As of the series finale, Eddie Lafferty is revealed as the real killer and is shot dead by Emily and the women; Mickey lets them go and shoots Lafferty herself.

As of the finale, Ahearn's possible involvement is suspected by Danjarat but denied by Ahearn and not confirmed; his fate is left unresolved.

As of the finale, Mickey quits the force, Truman does not forgive her, and she reunites with Kacey, Thomas and Gee as a family.
