Character Biography
Biography
Detective Davis Danjarat is the detective Sergeant Ahearn assigns to the encampment murders once the first death is confirmed as a homicide. He takes the case in episode 2.
Danjarat reaches the same conclusion Mickey does, independently: the killer may be diabetic, consistent with the insulin overdoses. He shows Mickey video of the perpetrator, whose face is hidden but who is wearing a Wildwood sweatshirt.
He is also the check on Mickey's shortcuts. She tells him a street woman identified Dock as a suspect; Danjarat disproves it when Dock's alibi clears him.
In the finale Danjarat finds insulin in Eddie Lafferty's fridge. Lafferty flees. Danjarat then suspects Ahearn's involvement and clears Mickey with Internal Affairs.
Danjarat's role is procedural where Mickey's is personal. He holds the video evidence, runs the alibis, and is the one who can put a search in front of a fridge. He is also the detective Mickey feeds a false identification to, which is the season's clearest example of her methods catching up with her.
Nothing in the episodes establishes Danjarat's history before the assignment, and the season gives him no stake in the case beyond it — he is assigned, he works it, and he is the one who finds the insulin.
Character Overview
About Detective Davis Danjarat
Danjarat is the competent version of the investigation Mickey cannot run through channels. He arrives with the case in episode 2, reaches the insulin theory on his own, and holds the video evidence Mickey wants to act on — the clip of a perpetrator whose face is hidden but who is wearing a Wildwood sweatshirt.
His role is partly to correct her. When Mickey fabricates a witness identification to point him at Dock, his work produces Dock's alibi and clears him — the moment that exposes her fabrication, and the one she later has to confess to Truman.
By the finale he is the one who closes the physical case: he finds insulin in Lafferty's fridge and pursues him as he flees. He is also the one who follows the thread past Lafferty, suspecting Ahearn's involvement, while simultaneously clearing Mickey with Internal Affairs.
Danjarat's arc ends with both halves of the case in his hands and neither fully resolved: Lafferty is dead by someone else's hand, and Ahearn's involvement is suspected, denied and left open.
He is the season's straight procedural line — the detective who did the case the way the department wanted it done, and who nonetheless ended up holding the evidence that named a cop.
