At their house Lee tells Rosemary he wants Henry as Goldie's godfather, saying Henry is wiser because of his troubles, and Rosemary is surprised but agrees.
Lee meets Henry at the community garden and nominates him, and Henry says he is not the right man while Lee asks him to think about it.
In town Elizabeth and Rosemary see the Vote for Bouchard posters and run into Mike, who is sympathetic, and Elizabeth asks him for fliers to give her students.
Mike is surprised she can still take part despite their separation.
Heading to the saloon Elizabeth wishes everyone would forget she was meant to marry tomorrow, and she says she is sad but also happy for Lucas.
Elizabeth tells Rosemary about her disagreement with Nathan over her true happiness and Rosemary hints that Nathan has a point.
Bill rides along with Nathan after a report of Pinkertons, and Nathan says he has not seen much of Elizabeth while Bill wonders whether that is on purpose.
Nathan asks Bill about Madeline and Bill says it is the life of a bachelor for him, while Nathan says it is the life of a dad for him.
Joseph finds Henry at the stables and Henry says he does not feel equipped to be Goldie's godfather, but Joseph encourages him and says it will be good for him.
Outside the mercantile Mei helps Mike with a stack of canned goods and they arrange to meet at the hot springs so Mike can help her collect clay for her masks.
Lucas calls Elizabeth from Capital City and says the campaign has not been easy, and she offers him her support.
At the saloon Ned suggests a button for everyone who votes and Rosemary says the vote is neck and neck with moral clarity and the press on their side.
Mike wonders whether Elizabeth should be included in the campaign effort, and Elizabeth overhears, interrupts, and says Lucas wants his speech broadcast in the saloon and quoted in the Valley Voice.
She reveals she just spoke with him, Rosemary says everything is fine between them, and they all tune in to the speech and cheer.
Outside the rowhouses Elizabeth sees Henry and reassures him that he would make a great godfather.
Inside Abigail's cafe Minnie finds Joseph working on his baptism speech with Henry on his mind, and she tells him to rest because everything will be okay.
It is Election Day and the voting booths are set up in Bill's office, where the ballot lists Bixby Balfour and Lucas Bouchard.
Elizabeth and Rosemary take the desk while Bill and Mike open the doors for voters.
Inside the saloon Mike handles Election Day alone because his wait staff are out voting, and when he remembers his meeting with Mei, Bill and Lee offer to take over.
Mike arrives to meet Mei and she is no longer there, and she tells Fiona and Faith at the beauty shop that he stood her up and she takes it as a sign he is not interested.
Back at Bill's office Rosemary says the line is moving slowly and they create more voting booths, and later she targets voters who are not wearing buttons.
Elizabeth notices Nathan has not voted and goes to the jail, but he is not there.
As the last voter leaves, Nathan arrives to vote and Elizabeth says she was worried he would not show up and wondered whether he was avoiding her.
Nathan apologizes for overstepping and says he had no right to question her, and Elizabeth appreciates his words.
At the saloon Mike expresses regret about missing Mei and explains he lost track of time, and Fiona tells him she will not get between them but gives him advice.
Elizabeth and Little Jack head to the baptism and Jack wants to wear his father's Mountie hat, and Elizabeth suggests he wear it after the ceremony.
Everyone gathers for church and searches for Henry, who is not among the crowd.
As the choir sings Henry appears saying he could not find a tie, and with Minnie's encouragement Joseph puts his paper away and speaks from the heart before baptizing Goldie in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
At the saloon everyone erupts in applause when the announcement is made that Lucas has won.
Elizabeth finds Henry in his old Gowen Petroleum offices and he confides that he is trying to make sense of his past troubles from the explosion as well as his future, and she comforts him.
At the victory party Fiona tells Mei to give Mike a break and Mei decides to tell Mike how she feels, and they approach each other, speak over one another, and learn they really like each other.
Mei forgives him and they dance as Fiona and Faith look on.
Bill spots Madeline at the saloon and follows her outside, where she says they were in Buxton when they heard Lucas won and Jamie insisted they drive up to celebrate.
She says Bill probably will not forgive her but wants him to know that he and Hope Valley have meant a lot to her.
In Capital City Lucas leaves his campaign headquarters at night and a shadowy figure approaches him, and Lucas asks what the figure is doing there.
Elizabeth visits Jack's grave and says she is afraid to get hurt again and cannot risk that pain again, and that Lucas deserves to have a great love.
Henry approaches a house, builds up his courage, and knocks, and when the door opens he greets the person by name as Abigail.

Analysis
Character Development
Elizabeth Thornton
Elizabeth carries on after the broken engagement and keeps supporting Lucas in public.
Confirmed in the episode: Elizabeth tells Rosemary she will be fine after saying goodbye to Lucas and tells her class Lucas is a good man; she asks Mike for Vote for Bouchard fliers for her students and says she is sad but also happy for Lucas; she interrupts at the saloon to say Lucas wants his speech broadcast; at Jack's grave she says she is afraid to get hurt again.
Interpretation: Her public composure and private fear run side by side all episode, and the gravesite admission is the honesty the public version has been holding back.
Henry Gowen
Henry resists being Goldie's godfather and then accepts it and shows up.
Confirmed in the episode: Lee nominates Henry at the community garden and Henry says he is not the right man; Henry tells Joseph he does not feel equipped to be Goldie's godfather and Elizabeth reassures him he would make a great one; he appears at the baptism saying he could not find a tie; he later confides to Elizabeth about his past and his future.
Interpretation: Being asked to stand for a child is the fullest acceptance the town has offered him, and his arrival at the church is his answer to a question he spent the season unable to ask.
Nathan Grant
Nathan apologizes for overstepping about Elizabeth's happiness and then is summoned with her at the cliffhanger.
Confirmed in the episode: Nathan tells Bill he has not seen much of Elizabeth and Elizabeth tells Rosemary about their disagreement over her true happiness; he votes last after Elizabeth notices he has not voted and apologizes for overstepping, saying he had no right to question her; he approaches Elizabeth at the end before Bill interrupts.
Interpretation: He steps back from the argument he was making in the previous episode, and being pulled into the emergency alongside Elizabeth puts them together again on the town's terms rather than his.
Rosemary LeClair
Rosemary runs the Election Day effort and quietly pushes Elizabeth toward what she wants.
Confirmed in the episode: Rosemary agrees to Henry as Goldie's godfather and says the vote is neck and neck with moral clarity and the press on their side; she adds voting booths and targets voters who are not wearing buttons; she tells Mike everything is fine between Elizabeth and Lucas and hints that Nathan has a point.
Interpretation: She manages the town's logistics and her friend's heart at the same time, and her hint about Nathan is the season's clearest nudge toward what comes next.
Mike Hickam
Mike loses track of time on Election Day and stands Mei up, then makes it right.
Confirmed in the episode: Mike arranges to meet Mei at the hot springs and is handling the saloon alone on Election Day when he remembers the meeting; he arrives and Mei is gone and later explains to Bill and Lee that he lost track of time; at the party he and Mei speak over one another and learn they really like each other.
Interpretation: His reliability problem is the same one that has cost him all season, and this time he closes it by saying the thing plainly rather than performing.
Mei Sou
Mei reads being stood up as disinterest and then decides to say how she feels.
Confirmed in the episode: Mei arranges to meet Mike at the hot springs and tells Fiona and Faith he stood her up, taking it as a sign he is not interested; Fiona tells her to give Mike a break and Mei decides to tell him how she feels; they learn they really like each other, she forgives him, and they dance.
Interpretation: She stops waiting to be chosen and simply says what she feels, which is the same courage she showed about her grandmother's recipes earlier in the season.
Bill Avery
Bill runs the polling station, hears from Madeline, and then delivers the season's emergency.
Confirmed in the episode: Bill rides along with Nathan after the Pinkerton report and opens the doors for voters at his office on Election Day; he follows Madeline outside and she tells him they came up to celebrate and that he and Hope Valley have meant a lot to her; he arrives urgently at the end saying something has happened to Lucas.
Interpretation: He spends the day as the town's officer and ends it as its messenger, and Madeline's return leaves his own story mid-sentence going into the break.
