About Leland Coulter

Leland Coulter is one of Hope Valley's established merchants and, with Rosemary, half of its most enduring partnership: a lumberman and newspaperman whose mill, store and steady income make him an anchor of the town's economy.

His story runs alongside Rosemary LeVeaux's from the moment she arrives in the valley. The two of them run the Valley Voice together, marry, and have their first child in Season 10; from there they take on the town's public life as a pair, with Lee named the centre of the Hope Valley hotel and resort project and then becoming Mayor of Hope Valley. Season 12 tests the arrangement by offering him the Capital City project, and he and Rosemary settle the question by agreeing to a weekly commute rather than moving the family. Season 13 turns him into one of the town's first responders: he orders Hope Valley's evacuation when the wildfire turns toward Benson Hills, then expands Coulter Lumber into Coulter Construction so the burned town has a one-stop shop to rebuild, hiring local workers and driving supplies to the man who had tried to have him arrested.
