Ransom Canyon Season 2 Episode 1: Hey There, Cowboy

Ransom Canyon season 2 opens with Quinn O'Grady and her dog Biscuit returning home from a six-month stay in New York City, where she played piano for the philharmonic. Staten Kirkland has officially been unseated as head of the Double K by his father Sam, who lost his last election; none of Staten's crew is happy working under Sam.

Quinn's sister Angie pays a visit, bringing their mother Claire as a surprise. While walking to Gracie's, Quinn notices other nearby businesses have gone under; Ellie explains the Austin Water & Power pipeline led several ranches to cash in and sell out, including Davis Collins's. Davis got back together with Paula Jo and moved back to Austin, and Reid is now attending Texas A&M.

Yancy is frustrated to still be living with his wife Sidney six months later. He had offered her a place to stay after a con gone bad in exchange for a divorce, and is angry that their fake marriage was never annulled. In truth, Yancy and Ellie are still together and have been for the past six months, keeping it a secret from Sidney so she cannot use it against them.

Staten and Quinn's first face-to-face turns tense when Staten brings up their need to talk and Quinn bites back about him not calling once in six months. Claire wants to sell Quinn's house and farm quickly before Ransom Canyon sinks further into financial ruin. At Quinn's welcome-home party, Sidney attends to Yancy and Ellie's dismay; Kit, seeing Sam clear a room, advocates for a job at Double K, pledging loyalty to Sam rather than Staten.

Sidney catches Yancy and Ellie in a compromising position in Ellie's office and reveals she knows Ellie is pregnant, threatening to use it to take half of Fuller Ranch in their divorce. Staten finally tells Quinn he misses her and regrets not calling. Then Quinn's New York boyfriend Oliver arrives, proposes with a ring, and asks her to come back to New York — with Staten watching from outside.
