Character Biography
Biography
Tyler Galpin is a Jericho local who attends Nevermore's Rave'N dance with Wednesday and becomes her first real romantic thread — and the Hyde she has been hunting. He is portrayed by Hunter Doohan.
He is useful and unremarkable in exactly the way that works. He joins Wednesday and Enid when they sneak back into the Gates mansion during lockdown, and he takes her to Crackstone's crypt for a date. That date is where the investigation breaks open: the kiss triggers a vision in which Wednesday sees that Tyler is the Hyde, the thing behind the killings.
After that he is no longer a suspect. Wednesday captures and tortures him to force a confession and he admits what he is, and the decision costs her — her friends alert Principal Weems and she is expelled for it. In Season 2 he escapes Willow Hill after Marilyn's attempt to rehabilitate him ends with him attacking her, he moves through Jericho's Día de los Muertos disguised as an orderly, and at the end Enid accepts a permanent alpha transformation in order to bring him down.
Character Overview
About Tyler Galpin
Tyler Galpin is introduced as the boy next door: the sheriff's son from Jericho, a gentle surfer with a coffee-shop job and an easy smile who takes a genuine liking to the new girl at Nevermore. That warmth is real, but it is a mask stretched over something broken - Tyler is an outcast passing as normie, an unactivated Hyde carrying his dead mother's monstrous inheritance.
His arc is a study in grooming and control. Laurel Gates, disguised as teacher Marilyn Thornhill, unlocks his Hyde with poison and binds him to her will, sending him to butcher the outcasts she hates. Tyler's killings are horrific, but the show is careful to frame him as both monster and victim: a grieving teenager weaponized by the one adult who offered him purpose.
When Wednesday uncovers the truth, the boy she dated becomes the creature she must destroy. Beaten, unmasked and dragged away in chains, Tyler ends the season as a prisoner - but in the final scenes his Hyde stirs again, leaving him caged, conscious, and unfinished.

Key Relationships
Tyler's tragedy runs through his family: a dead mother, Francoise, whose Hyde nature he inherited, and a father, Sheriff Galpin, whose strictness hides grief he cannot voice. Laurel Gates exploits that wound completely, becoming his master and the only authority he obeys. With Wednesday he runs his longest con - the romance was his mission, yet his visible distress at its betrayal suggests some of it was real.
