The Boys Season 3 Episode 5: The Last Time to Look on This World of Lies

Kimiko wakes in a hospital after Soldier Boy's blast and discovers she has lost her healing ability and other powers. She speaks to Frenchie, imagines a musical sequence with him, and kisses him before Little Nina's men abduct Frenchie. Meanwhile, Soldier Boy reaches Midtown Manhattan, hears the Russian song tied to his captivity, loses control, and releases a chest blast that destroys part of the block and kills bystanders. In Trenton, an arranged public apology by Blue Hawk escalates into violence; Blue Hawk attacks residents and throws Nathan into a wall, injuring his spine.

A-Train later learns that Nathan is paralyzed and may never walk again. At Vought, Homelander suspects Maeve of conspiring against him. After Maeve tells him she hated and pitied him, Black Noir abducts her on Homelander's orders, and Ashley falsely tells Starlight that Maeve is at a Malibu rehabilitation facility. The Legend informs Butcher, Hughie, and M.M. that Soldier Boy sought his old suit and Crimson Countess's address and is heading to her. The Boys capture Crimson Countess and use her as bait, with Butcher drugging M.M. so he cannot interfere.

Soldier Boy confronts Crimson Countess, who reveals that the rest of Payback handed him to the Russians because they hated him; Soldier Boy then destroys the trailer park with his chest blast, killing her. Butcher makes an alliance with Soldier Boy: Soldier Boy will help kill Homelander while Butcher helps him locate the remaining members of Payback. Hughie chooses to go with Butcher and Soldier Boy despite Starlight's objections.

At Vought, Ashley becomes CEO, and Homelander appoints The Deep to lead crime analytics; The Deep dismisses nearly all staff after finding tweets critical of Homelander.

The episode ends with Hughie leaving with Butcher and Soldier Boy while Annie refuses to join them. This final state underscores Hughie's decision to side with Butcher's plan, putting him at odds with Annie. The unresolved threads include the fallout of Hughie's choice on his relationship with Annie, what Butcher and Soldier Boy will do next in their hunt for the remaining members of Payback, and the broader implications of Homelander's actions.
