Fire Country Season 3 Episode 10 Recap
Walter Leone is back in town for Bode's graduation, except that he has missed it by a week. Sharon thinks the confusion warrants testing, while Vince treats it as a slip and blames Walter's drinking. Walter settles in at the bar Sharon bought and tells exaggerated stories, and Bode decides that getting the family fishing again might lift him out of his funk. Bode organizes a trip with Vince, Luke and Jake; Sharon is the only one who thinks it is a bad idea.
On the trip a lot of old history surfaces. Luke says he has been the one checking on Walter, and he tells Vince that he has accepted a job out of the country with a new Cal Fire program, so Vince will have to step up. Vince refuses, arguing that he has always pushed their father onto his brother. Jake, meanwhile, tells Luke that he slept with Gabriela, and Luke advises him to come clean. That night Walter wanders off into the woods and Bode follows him; Walter stumbles across a man trapped in his car and Bode goes back for the others.
The man had been trapped for four to five days, surviving on rainwater and ketchup packets, and the men work together to keep him alive.
Back at Station 42, a baby is surrendered under the safe surrender law. Sharon cares for him with Audrey and Gabriela, then calls DCFS, and the baby is placed in an emergency foster home. His mother, Brenda, returns for him, and Sharon talks her through the steps to reclaim her son.
Jake tells Bode that he and Gabriela slept together, and Bode tells him that they are still brothers. Bode then tells Sharon she was right about Walter, and together they get him to agree to be tested on the condition that his sons are not told. At Three Rock, Eve finds a bottle of prison wine, and Manny refuses to name the inmate who made it; the guilty party eventually comes forward, and Manny apologizes to Luke for hitting him.

Analysis
Character Development
Bode Leone
Bode organizes the fishing trip, follows Walter into the woods, and gets him to agree to be tested while keeping it from Luke and Vince (F05, F10, F11, F26). Interpretation: Bode protecting Walter's pride mirrors his own history of being the family's problem, which is why he is the one Walter will deal with.
Walter Leone
Walter arrives a week late, tells exaggerated stories, wanders into the woods at night, finds a trapped man, and agrees to be tested (F01, F04, F10, F11, F26). Interpretation: Walter's wandering is what converts a family argument about his memory into an emergency, forcing the testing question out of the abstract.
Luke Leone
Luke says he has been checking on Walter and tells Vince he has accepted a job out of the country, and he advises Jake to come clean (F07, F08, F15). Interpretation: Luke naming the imbalance in how the brothers have split caring for Walter is what forces the episode's central family argument.
Jake Crawford
Jake tells Luke about sleeping with Gabriela and later tells Bode himself (F14, F23). Interpretation: Jake choosing to tell Bode rather than let it surface is what allows the two to stay brothers, which the episode treats as the relationship that matters.
Sharon Leone
Sharon wants Walter tested, cares for the surrendered baby, and helps Brenda reclaim him (F02, F16, F18, F22). Interpretation: Sharon handling the surrender without judgement is the same instinct she applies to Walter, treating both as people who need help rather than problems to be managed.

Fire Country Season 3 Episode 10 Ending Explained
Spoilers below
This section discusses the ending of "The Leone Way" in detail. Stop here if you haven't watched the episode.
The episode resolves its two threads for now: the trapped man is rescued and the crew keeps him alive until help arrives, and the surrendered baby is reclaimed by his mother, Brenda, after Sharon helps her through the process. Jake tells Bode about Gabriela, and Bode tells him they are still brothers.
What it leaves unresolved is Walter. He agrees to be tested only on the condition that his sons are not told, and the episode does not confirm that he has a cognitive problem or what the test will show. Whether Vince will take on caring for his father, given Luke's departure for a job out of the country, is also left open, as is what happens at Three Rock after the prison-wine incident.
