Kenny Liu

Kenny Liu serves as the sheriff's deputy in a town with no courts, no appeal and no daylight safety - a young man who took the role to help and keeps it because someone has to.

Grief reshapes him: the town's cruelty takes people he loves, and Kenny's arc is the slow hardening of a decent man who learns exactly what enforcing order here costs.
