Character Biography
Biography
Aemond Targaryen is the Greens' deadliest weapon - a second son who turned a childhood humiliation into the most dangerous resume in Westeros. At Driftmark, his cousins take his eye in a knife fight over a dragon claim; years later he answers by claiming Vhagar, the last and mightiest of the old dragons, a mount no one else alive could hope to ride. The boy who was laughed at becomes the rider every side must plan around.
His arc follows the logic of grievance. Aemond is the one who flies after Lucerys Velaryon in the war's first hours and loses control of Vhagar mid-chase, killing his nephew and detonating the Dance of the Dragons in an afternoon - a death he frames as misfortune while visibly savoring the power it signals. Season 2 makes him the Green war party's engine: pressing for attack while his brother the king burns hotter and less carefully, and testing exactly how far a second son can ride past his king.
"Smallfolk" marks the turn - the moment Aemond's willingness to burn what stands in his way stops being an asset and becomes the thing his own side must manage. His arc's question sharpens accordingly: whether the monster he made of himself can be aimed, or whether it can only burn what should have been his. Criston Cole trained him; Alicent fears him; Aegon underestimated him. The corpus tracks all of it through Season 3.
