Tracker Season 2 Episode 5 Recap
The following Tracker Season 2 episode 5 recap contains plot details.
"Preternatural" sends Colter into a struggling mining town in Pryor, Kentucky, to find Emmaline Trace (Alison Thornton), a 16-year-old girl who vanished after being attacked in the woods while collecting plants for her balms. Emmaline is said to possess a unique spiritual gift — she is a healer who once cured a townsman's wife of cancer — and the town is split between reverence and fear, with locals who believe she carries the devil leaving dead roadkill on the Trace porch.
Emmaline's brother Jasper (Connor Price) posted only a $5,000 reward; their parents died in a house fire ten years ago, and the case strikes a personal nerve with Velma.
Colter traces the intimidation to Jim Wheeler (Scott McNeil), the county roadkill collector, and learns the real motive is not the town's superstition but the Drell clan — an off-grid, drug-dealing family. Axel Drell (Travis Hammer) kidnapped Emmaline to use her healing gift to treat his ailing father, Gideon (Steve Bacic). Colter infiltrates the Drell compound alone, locates Emmaline, and in the escape is badly wounded and left bleeding out — leaving Emmaline, the girl he came to rescue, as the only one who can save him with the same healing gift the Drells tried to exploit.

The Tracker Season 2 episode 5 ending explained: The missing teen, Emmaline Trace, is found at the Drell clan's off-grid drug compound, where Axel Drell kidnapped her to exploit her healing gift for his ailing father, Gideon — the case's true motive is the Drell clan's exploitation of Emmaline's gift, not the town's supernatural fear.
