Overview

Episode Summary

The series finale opens at a protest against job cuts at the local Department of Education office, where former employees Judy King and Saquon Ball hurl paint-filled balloons at protestors; Saquon suddenly pulls a gun and fires (F01, F02). Judy - Saquon's driver and a mother figure to him - tries to cut ties when the situation spirals, and Saquon takes her and his aunt Kay Ball hostage (F03). The review then reveals the deeper scheme: Saquon had been hired by tech bros Kyle McConnelly and Patesh Karna to eliminate Aiko Wu, a team member assigned to provide legal oversight of their operation (F04). Kyle and Patesh stole classified government data from the National Cyber Authority to engineer a digital 'kill switch' capable of shutting down the internet's infrastructure, and tried to sell it to Russian mobsters for $50 million in Bitcoin (F05). As proof of concept they test the cyber weapon on New York City - banks fail, cell service disappears, traffic grinds to a halt - and the task force hunts them down (F06, F07). Kyle is gunned down after pulling a gun during a pharmacy errand; Patesh takes a hostage before folding to the team (F07). Remy faces off with Saquon, who tries to shoot his way out and is fatally wounded (F08). In the farewell beats, Remy toasts his team - Nina ('strong, fierce, stunning'), Hana ('genius-level smart'), Ray ('honesty, loyalty, integrity') - and it is revealed Ray is going to be a dad (F09, F10). Barnes takes over as Supervisory Special Agent (F11). The finale coincides with Remy's birthday and retirement, and his love story with Abby Deaver (F12).
