Sonny Garrison

Sonny Garrison is one of When Calls the Heart's connective-tissue characters - introduced early in the series' run, absent for a long stretch, and then quietly woven back into the town's life in Season 12. His first recorded chapter places him in Hope Valley across Season 3's early episodes, in the era when the town was still defining itself around its founding families and the frontier rules were being written.

What makes his file interesting is the return. Season 12's corpus evidence puts his name back into circulation across most of the season, with two full-name confirmations in "When Autumn Leaves Begin to Fall" and "Buried Treasure". Returning background characters do double duty in a show this long-lived: they reward viewers who remember the early seasons, and they signal that Hope Valley's population has history rather than turnover.

Sonny never gets a confrontation scene or a romance to carry. His function is quieter - a familiar face at the saloon counter, another pair of hands when the town needs them, proof that the valley's story did not erase the people who passed through it. In a series built on community and continuity, that is a real role, and his Season 12 presence is the evidence of it.

Sonny Garrison is a recurring character in When Calls the Heart. Portrayed by Ben Cotton, the character appears in 3 episodes across 1 season. First seen in S3E2, “Troubled Hearts”, and last seen in S3E5, “A Gentle Heart”.
