Devon Scout-Hale

Devon Scout-Hale is Mark's sister and one of the few characters who exists entirely in the outie world, providing a window into Mark's life outside Lumon. A former academic turned new mother, Devon serves as Mark's primary emotional anchor, hosting family gatherings and checking in on his wellbeing even as she remains ignorant of the full extent of his severed existence. Across the two seasons, Devon's role expands from supportive sister to active investigator, as she begins to question the circumstances around Mark's wife Gemma's death and the strange behavior of their neighbor Mrs. Selvig. In Season 2, Devon becomes entangled in the unfolding conspiracy, helping Mark's outie process the revelation that Gemma may be alive and assisting in his search for answers. Her arc represents the show's exploration of how severance ripples outward, affecting not just the severed but everyone who loves them.

Devon's defining relationship is with her brother Mark, whose grief over Gemma's death she has witnessed firsthand. Her bond with her husband Rick provides stability, and her new motherhood creates a contrast between the fullness of her life and the emptiness of Mark's severed existence. Her growing suspicion of Mrs. Selvig, whom she does not yet know is Cobel, drives her investigative arc in Season 2.
