Caolan Waltrip

Caolan Waltrip is Tulsa King's first real gang war: the boss of a violent crew whose raids drag Dwight Manfredi from capo-in-exile into the General he becomes. Waltrip operates through enforcers and fear - most visibly Carson Pike, whose nighttime attack on Mitch's bar is gunned down by Dwight and Mitch together, the spark that ignites the gang war. Waltrip's brutality is personal: when Stacy's pressure as an ATF agent forces her informant Roxy to sneak into Mitch's bar and steal a computer, it is Waltrip himself who catches her and chokes her to death. The confrontation with Stacy erupts into a violent nighttime gunfight in which Waltrip blasts her in the chest with a shotgun, leaving her gravely wounded - and turning Dwight's retaliation into a certainty. In the Season 1 finale, Dwight takes the confrontation into his own hands, personally killing Waltrip to avenge Stacy's shooting, while his crew - deployed together for the first time as all hands on deck - wipes out Waltrip's gang. Waltrip's death completes Dwight's transformation from exiled capo to a general willing to settle scores himself, and sets the template every later enemy of the show is measured against. His crew runs on intimidation and speed, and for a while it works - Waltrip is Dwight's first real test as a man building an army of his own rather than running someone else's.
